Overwhelmingly comprehensive coverage of both numeracy & maths, through a range of freely downloadable "Booklets" of clearly-presented activities. In particular 'Mathematics in the Workplace' (UK/NZ) has an amazing 600 pages of visually appealing adult numeracy lessons. Videos on every conceivable maths topic. Worksheets and more. There is also a free downloadable 'Textbook' -but it doesn't "begin at the beginning"(ie, it's Maths, not Numeracy).

Basic Mathematics

From kindergarten number concepts to Trigonometry and Statistics, this site teaches and assesses maths in a clear and logical way, as well as some worksheets. Site can be slow due to ads. There is a Nursing Maths section, Math Games, and more. American.

1. Football Rules! (2016)
Dave Tout & Philippa McLean's 2008 publication re-released: using football as the basis for numeracy & maths activities at Level 1 of Certificate of General Education for Adults (CGEA)-which is roughly equivalent to Year 9. You may wish to skip-or read online-relevant parts of the first 33 pages (mapping & advice) and only print the Handouts section, of activities (after page 34).

2. The Word on Cars (2016)
As above and by the same authors. Aimed at a slightly lower level (Introductory Cert 1 CGEA). You may wish to skip-or read online-relevant parts of the first 31 pages (mapping & advice) and only print the Handouts section, of activities (after page 32).

*Consumer Stuff! - A Resource for Teaching & Learning Maths & Numeracy (2009)*
From Consumer Affairs Victoria, a free downloadable book on everyday maths, aimed at Year 9 & 10 level. Includes budgeting, paying bills, shopping, credit, loans, measurement & gambling. This is also obtainable from Multifangled web page. Not for low literacy level!


*Numeracy By Measure - Workplace Measurement Skills*
'Snapshots' which could be entire lessons on workplace measurement activities (eg, cabinet-making, shoe fitting, health monitoring, tyre fitting). Note: These are very "wordy"!

*Algebra Equals*

Interactive module of the Algebra & Trigonometry encountered in Australian Apprenticeship/Certificate III in Electrotechnology .

*Money Smart*

An Australian site from ASIC (Australian Securities and Investment Commission). It can be a bit visually overwhelming! Everything to do with money: budget planner, buying a mobile, buying a car, mortgage calculator, super calculator, retirement planner, scams, borrowing and credit, an audio caution about using ATMs in various indigenous languages, "Money musts before you die'! and so much more.

A simplified version of the Money Smart site, developed for adults by the ANZ Bank. The links feed back into the main Money Smart site, but this interface is simpler to navigate.



*A Professional Development Resource for WELL Practitioners*
From 2011, a downloadable 108-page report for teachers of the now-defunct Australian workplace learning programme. It offers an overview of numeracy, addresses adult maths anxiety, provides excellent examples of numeracy in the workplace & presents a summary of research.
